How to increase your blog traffic by 600%

Wow, thats a bold title. But you want to know how right? Thats what I thought also. So I wanted to share some results from one of my blog in a case study type of post. Have been holding it back until my blog got accepted into various blog directories that autoupdate on new posts.

But before we go further, ask yourself: Why do you want to increase your blog traffic? If you can answer that with a specific goal, then you can continue, or it will not be worth your time.

Blog traffic overview, showing percent of increase in traffic.

Look at this wonderful chart I put together. On the left side there is the percent going up from ZERO to 700%. It indicates how much blog traffic I got. So 100% is the last 7 days average traffic before I implemented this tactic.

Day 1 on the timeline going to the right, I posted a new blogpost about something in the niche that was newsworthy. Some new thing had been released into the market, and people wanted to know as much as they could about it. So I posted a short but to the point guide to that item. The traffic increased a bit, but Google was a little slow on picking up my site about it.

The next day I posted a review of the item, how it worked for me and what I could see as benefits. As you can see on the chart, the traffic increased a bit more. But know I saw the analytics I have on the blog started to increase rapidly, I was onto something. Or as it really was, Google snapped up my news and ranked me high for various terms regarding the new item.

Day 3, I posted a follow up of all the bad things that this item could cause. But also linked to my other blogposts and a guide to how you could survive without the new item. Google still holds all my posts about the item high in the search results, like in the number 1 and number 2 spots. So that day, my blog hit over 600% increase in traffic from the baseline of the 7 days before this newsposts. Pretty good?

On the next day, I thought I had covered this new item the most I could. So I didn’t post anything. As you can see, the blogtraffic has still an increase over the normal period with around 300% more traffic. And it continued like that from that period of time.

So how do you increase YOUR blog traffic with over 600%?

You have to put up Google Alerts, you find it here: http://www.google.no/alerts

In Google Alerts you can setup alerts for different keywords about your niche that is new on Google. So when you get alerted about something, its probably a trending topic. So it is worth writing about to get your share of the visitors.

Step 1: Research the topic that is trending in Google Alerts or in a news media about your niche

Step 2: Write a detailed post about the item, SEO optimize it and spread it as man places you can.

Step 3: Write a review of the thing that your first post is about, it requires you to test it. Find the benefits, pros and cons about the item/thing.

Step 4: Follow up on the thing/item you have written about. Read other people experiences around the web, collect it and put it into a new blogpost.

Step 5: Cross link your blog posts so people find out all your research and writing about it.

Thats it. If people are interested in it, they want to find the resource with most information about it. Google and other search engines know about that, so they will rank you higher. Hard work, write good and detailed, make your own pictures and reviews and link to other great resources in your blogposts.

Please share your insights in the comment section beneath about your results with using this strategy if you test this out on your own blog.
